Hi! My name is Ashleigh Stahl. I have done most of my teaching in prekindergarten, which I believe to be one of the most rewarding learning experiences for not only the students but also for myself. I have also had experience in first grade, fourth grade, and sixth grade classrooms. My number one goal as an educator is to create a fun, engaging, and supportive environment for students that focuses on building up their individual weaknesses as well as furthering their strengths in an approachable manner. I will provide students with high expectations so they can succeed academically, socially, and physically, and hopefully instill a love for future learning and curiosity. I believe that strong parent-teacher relationships are very important to the learning process and strive to keep the lines of communication open as much as possible for you and your scholar. I love doing crafts, singing songs, and reading and will try to incorporate these types of activities as well as other activities your child likes to complete during each new day of learning. I am always excited to meet new students and can’t wait to get started!

Laura Gorman-Knopf

Quick Facts:

-Literacy Specialist

-Montessori, Reggio Emilia, James Bank and Howard Gardner

-Experience with K-12

-Published Children's Literature Author

I am a masters level educator and literacy specialist with a progressive , constructivist ,whole child - inquiry - play based approach to teaching and learning which stem from the methodologies of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, James Bank and Howard Gardner. I have over a decade working within multiple settings within the realm of k - 12 education as well as both undergraduate as well as graduate level courses.

When not in the classroom I have worked as a diverse and eclectic curriculum design expert for children’s media outlets such a Sesame Workshop. I am additionally a published children’s literature author , all of my short stories, chapter books as well my on screen narration incorporate multiculturalism and were created so that students from from all walks of life could see themselves within the main characters. As previously stated, align with student centered, play/ inquiry based methodologies and I believe it is my role as educator to meet my students where they are in the learning process and aide them to develop the skills needed to either help them progress in certain areas or on the flip side the tools to help them journey even farther down the path of success and exploration they are on - whether that be on target with their school curriculum or as an additional outlet for excelling on their own belong what is expected of them of them in classroom. I LOVE children’s literature and believe it can be woven into pretty much any lesson or activity - I see such immense value in adding an additional narrative to spark student’s curiosity and excitement when learning a new topic or revisiting an idea. Basically, in my eyes each student comes into the classroom with a unique lens, background history and cultural experiences. Simply put no two students are going to experience or understand a topic in the exact same way. I see my goal as their guide towards finding what medium works best for them when developing their personal interpretation and then giving them the materials, encouragement and outlet to share their ideas with the world.

Bright, lively, creative and collaborative —my classroom is a place where children’s innate curiosity is nurtured and guided. It is my goal to teach children how to think, not what to think. Within our learning space whether that be in their home , the park or in a mini school we’ve created,it is my ultimate goal that children build the social, emotional, and cognitive skills essential for success in school and the world as a whole.
