Hi, my name is Janine Leone. I graduated from St. Joseph's College with my Undergraduate degree in 2012. As I started my career, I quickly fell in love with teaching kids how to read and went back to receive my Masters degree in Literacy and Cognition to become a reading specialist. Since then, I have experienced teaching a variety of grades and have been teaching first grade for the past four years. My passion is helping kids realize that they can be confident and efficient readers and igniting a natural love of reading in them too. I believe children learn best when they're enjoying themselves and feel connected to their teacher. I dedicate a lot of time creating games, and brainstorming other fun ways for my students to become excited about learning!

-NYS Special Education (1-6)

Hi! My name is Toni Buffalino!  I am currently certified as a NYS teacher in General Education and Special Education grades 1-6. My teaching experience started at Variety Child Learning Center in Syosset where I worked with autistic children. This experience then brought me to the Plainview School district where I worked in their ABA (applied behavior analysis) program for 7 years in the elementary school and middle school.

As a teacher I believe it is so important to make connections with children and motivate these students to be the best they can be. I believe that establishing a positive relationship between the child and the teacher is so important. In order for me to assist your child reach his or her full potential the teacher and parent relationship is important. I love to find new ways for children to learn and know that not every child learns the same.

When I am not teaching, I love being active and going on hikes. I really enjoy going to find new places to eat and traveling for the best donuts!

Hello!  I have been fortunate to have worked in many grade levels throughout my 9 years in the teaching field.  I have worked with grades UPK-6, and have worked with a variety of curriculums.  My goal as a teacher and tutor is to make learning engaging!  Children learn best when their affective filters are lowered.  A climate of warmth, growth, and success is created this way.  I believe that is of the utmost importance for teachers to facilitate.  I am looking forward to meeting new families and contributing to student success~

Hi! My name is Cayla Axelrod. I attended Binghamton University for my undergraduate degree and worked corporately in financial services for four years. Over that time, I worked in Human Resources providing communication based services, inclusive of resume assistance, mock interviews, public speaking and presentation training. I have decided to return to school to pursue a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and will be starting my master’s program at CUNY Hunter this fall 2022. Growing up in a family of educators, I look forward to becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist in a school setting after completion of my program.

I have tutored both formally and informally over the years. This past year I have even volunteered for an organization helping to close the literacy gap and build strategies and skill sets for children in the NYC area who are reading below grade level. I also had the great opportunity to shadow a Speech-Language Pathologist to see and learn best practices in a public school on Long Island.

I look forward to offering homework help services to students in Nassau County. Additionally, I am available to assist in helping your child improve his/her communication, public speaking and presentation skills, as well as any college prep resume workshopping. I am extraordinarily patient, kind-hearted and enjoy building confidence to help children achieve their academic goals. I am excited to work on the Seventh Street Tutoring team!
